THE EFFECT OF COMPETENCY AND WORK ENVIRONMENT ON MOTIVATION AND ITS IMPACT ON EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE IN THE DEPARTMENT OF FOOD CROP SERVICES OF JAMBI PROVINCE

This research was conducted at the Food Security Office of Jambi Province, which was formed based on Regional Regulation No. 8 of 2016 concerning the Establishment and Arrangement of Devices of Jambi Province and Jambi Governor Regulation No. 53 of 2016 concerning the position, organization structure, duties and functions and working procedures of the Jambi Provincial Food Security Office. Jambi Provincial Food Security Office is an implementing element of local government implementation with organizational elements in carrying out its duties and functions. This research uses descriptive and verificative research method, which is a method in researching a group of people, an object, the situation and condition of a thought system with the aim to create a description, a systematic picture according to the facts being investigated. The verifikative research aims to test hypotheses about the influence between variables of this study. This study uses census method that is all employees who are in the Food Security Office of Jambi Province, while the data used in this study is primary data obtained from the results of questionnaires provided and has been filled by each employee in the Food Security Office of Jambi Province, data analysis techniques used namely path analysis, with the help of SPSS software program version 22.0. The results of this study show that free variables, namely competence and work environment, have a positive and significant impact on motivation and positively impact the performance of employees in the Food Security Office of Jambi Province, this proves that by increasing competence and work environment in the Food Security Office of Jambi Province, it will also increase the motivation that will have an impact on improving employee performance at the Food Security Office of Jambi Province.
